And climate change is acting as a "threat multiplier," stoking instability in some of the most volatile regions of the world.
Defense and intelligence experts have found that such effects could increase military missions as troops are called on for support. In order to become safer and more prosperous, we must find ways to transition to cleaner, domestically produced energy sources.
