Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to allow logging in the heart of Alaska’s ancient rainforest and waive fundamental conservation laws, including the Endangered Species Act, within 100 miles of U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada. H.R. 2578 would threaten many of America’s treasured wild places including Glacier National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, and the Tongass National Forest. It will be up to the Obama administration and the Senate to ensure that the rainforest and the rest of our public lands are protected.
