Alliance to Pressure Newman on Wild River Laws

Some Queensland graziers, Indigenous people and environment groups have formed an alliance to pressure Liberal National Party (LNP) leader Campbell Newman to commit to the state's Wild Rivers laws.

The new alliance released an analysis today that shows 85 per cent of the Lake Eyre Basin in western Queensland is covered by exploration permits for oil and gas.

The Wild Rivers laws have faced fierce resistance on Cape York in the state's far north from Aboriginal leader Noel Pearson.
