In late 2010, Global Ocean Legacy staff met with Government of Bermuda representatives, scientists and individuals from non-governmental organizations to discuss the establishment of a very large, no-take marine reserve within the country’s waters. The government has indicated an interest in working with Global Ocean Legacy on designating such a reserve as a first step to protecting the wider Sargasso Sea. The Government of Bermuda issued a press release highlighting the meeting, which was covered in The Royal Gazette and Bernews.
