Steve Cole joined Pew in February 2012 as an officer of the Global Ocean Legacy project. Working out of the United Kingdom, he is responsible for managing  initiatives to establish large no-take marine reserves in U.K. overseas territories.

Before joining Pew, Cole worked for a number of environmental organizations, including the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development, where he specialized in marine conservation and oceans governance. He was previously a senior lawyer with a law firm in London and has 20 years’ experience in law, policy, and the environment.

Cole holds a master’s degree in environmental law from the University of London.
