Andi Pearl joined Pew in 2006 as an officer for the Antarctic krill conservation project. In 2010, she moved to the Global Ocean Legacy project, which works to create large, fully protected marine reserves around the world.  Pearl is responsible for directing advocacy work at several Global Ocean Legacy sites, as well as managing science and policy initiatives that support the project’s goal of protecting special places in the sea.

Before joining Pew, Pearl was a consultant providing strategic policy, research, and grantmaking guidance to clients such as the Town Creek Foundation, Center for a New American Dream, National Environmental Trust, and Antarctica Project. Previously, she was a program officer and interim executive director of the Merck Family Fund. She also worked as a lawyer with the Environmental Protection Agency in the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Monitoring and with a law firm in Washington.

Pearl holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and political science from the University of Vermont and a law degree from American University Washington College of Law.
